PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stainless steel mirror which is produced by forming an oxide coating film contg. a photosemiconductor on the surface of a stainless steel subjected to mirror surface finishing and hardly causes interference colors even if the oxide coating film is formed thinner and a process for producing the same. SOLUTION: The clear coating film having the refractive index smaller than the refractive index of the oxide coating film is formed between the stainless steel mirror and the oxide coating film. The stainless mirror is produced by a process of subjecting the surface of the mirror surface finished stainless steel to a pretreatment, then applying a clear coating material of an oxide sol or fluororesin which constitutes a coating film of a small refractive index on the surface, then baking the coating prior to coating application and baking of the oxide coating material contg. the photosemiconductor.
