PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recognition device capable of accurately eliminating noise and more accurately recognizing an original direction though being in simple constitution. SOLUTION: An isolation point inside image data is removed by using a noise elimination filter 3×3 (S1 and S2). A histogram for indicating the density distribution of character images is generated from the image data from which the isolation point is removed (S3). The size of the character image of an original is detected by analyzing the shape of the generated histogram (S7), and in the case that it is larger than a prescribed size ('Y' in S8), the size of the noise elimination filter is changed to 5×5 larger than 3×3, the isolation point inside the image data is removed again and the histogram is generated again (S9-S11). In the case that a character size is less than the prescribed size ('N' in S8), shifting to S14 is performed. Based on the generated histogram, the original direction is recognized for respective pages and the rotation angle of the original is set based on the recognized result (S14 and S15). |
