PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid developer excellent in heat resistant stability, and capable of fixing a toner image on a recording material under a temperature not wreaking thermal damage upon a component inside an image forming device, and to provide a preparing process for the developer. SOLUTION: This developer is a liquid developer for electrophotography dispersed with a toner into an electrically insulating carrier liquid, and difference between a glass transition temperature (Tg) of the toner and a Tg of the toner after thermally fused once is within 5 deg.C in the toner used for the developer. In this process for the developer, a kneaded toner mixture prepared by kneading a toner material containing a binder resin as a main component is roughly crushed to prepare a prescribed particle size of toner coarse particles, the toner coarse particles are pulverized finely in the carrier liquid to provide a liquid developer for electrophotography dispersed with a prescribed particle size of the toner particles in the carrier liquid, and the pulverization hereinbefore is conducted under a temperature lower than 50 deg.C or more compared with a Tg of the binder resin that is the toner resin.
