PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which hardly gives rise to the image persistence and after-images of display images occurring in internal residual voltages and a process for producing the same and to effectively decrease the image persistence and after-images of the display images occurring in the internal residual voltages even with a plasma address liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel having a pair of substrates facing each other, a pair of liquid crystal alignment layers disposed on the inner side of a pair of these substrates, structures disposed on the inner side of these liquid crystal alignment layers and a liquid crystal layer consisting of liquid crystal regions in contact with these structures. The time constantτ2AL defined by the value of the product of the sheet resistance value RAL of the liquid crystal alignment layers and film capacitance CAL, is <=4000 seconds.
