PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive optical isolator with,multiplex input/output of high density. SOLUTION: First and second polarization components are separated with first optical elements 138, 146, from a propagating light beam. The separated polarization components are irreversibly rotated with irreversible optical rotators 142 and 144, 150 and 152. The first and second polarization components are joined by means of the second optical elements 140, 148. A converging element 116, which converges the frontwards propagating light beam, is provided between plural isolator assemblies 112 and 114 constituted in such a manner and an adjacent isolator assembly. |
