PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure with high accuracy the internal size of a mold cavity for casting with efficiency. SOLUTION: This internal size measuring instrument 1, which measures the internal size in a horizontal plane of the mold cavity of a mold 35 for casting, is equipped with a size difference detecting means 3 which detects the size difference between the internal size and a previously set reference size, an operation means 15 which can insert the size difference detecting means into a mold cavity 36 from an opening part 43 of the mold cavity and extract it from the mold cavity 36 and swivel the size detecting means 3 in the horizontal plane, and a positioning means 24 which can position the operating means 15 vertically and horizontally, and the internal size of the mold cavity 36 of the mold for casting is measured with high accuracy and with efficiency.
