PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television (TV) receiver by which the setting operation of RATING information is facilitated, further, the desired RATING information can be set even when a user does not comprehend the meaning of a symbol expressing the RATING information and moreover, the viewing of a program at the level intended by the user can be inhibited. SOLUTION: This TV receiver is provided with a setting key to be operated when setting the RATING information, a decoder 4 for extracting the RATING information from a V-chip signal, a memory 5 for storing the RATING information set by the user and a control circuit 1 for reading the RATING information from the decoder 4 and storing the read RATING information in the memory 5 when the setting key is pressed by the user.
