PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent information from disappearing carelessly especially in an automatic picture recording mode by a method wherein unnecessary information is deleted from a medium according to information to be recorded (or video recorded) on the medium, i.e., according to the priority of the retention of the information. SOLUTION: By using a control table 21, a CPU 20 controls multimedia information which is recorded (or video recorded) on a medium 10. An importance level which is used to judge the importance of every piece of information is contained in the control table 21. The CPU 20 decides information to be delected from the medium 10 on the basis of the importance level so that an empty capacity can be ensured in the medium 10.
