PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve miniaturization and lightness in weight by providing a constitution in which both a thin plate-shaped detecting part housing electrodes for detecting surface pressure distribution and a sample insertion part with a through window part opposed to the detecting electrodes and blocked by a flexible film and with a window part open/close shutter are provided. SOLUTION: A hollow detecting part 3 in the shape of a metal thin plate and a sample insertion part 4 into which a sample finger is inserted are provided. Matrix- type electrodes for detecting surface pressure distribution are arranged in the detecting part 3 and are individually connected to a selective circuit. The sample insertion part 4 is fixed to the upper surface of the detecting part 3, and sheet members 15, 17, 18, and 21 and a spacer member 19 are integrally laminated. A frame 23 housing a flexible film 16 and a shutter 20 is constituted by providing a window part which goes through the plate thickness of the frame 23. The window part 16 is blocked by the film 16, and the finger can be placed on the film 16 at the time when the shutter 20 is open. When the finger is placed on and pressed against the film 16, the lower side of the film 16 comes into contact with the detecting electrodes. The selective circuit scans the detecting electrodes, and it is possible to detect the shape of the fingerprint from a current passing at the time.
