PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-luminous pointer for a measuring instrument, whose visibility is good and which can be manufactured at low cost by using an organic thin-film electroluminescence element. SOLUTION: An ITO(indium tin oxide) electrode 2, an organic compound layer 3 and a metal electrode layer 4 as a rear electrode are formed respectively by a vacuum evaporation operation on a surface glass plate 1, which has the shape of a pointer for a measuring instrument. This assembly is sandwiched between the surface glass plate 1 and a rear glass plate 5. A conductor 2a of the ITO electrode 2 and a conductor 4a of a metal electrode layer 4 are put together at the end part of a self-luminous pointer 10 for a measuring instrument so as to be guided into a pointer shaft 8. The side of the conductor 2a and the side of the conductor 4a at the self-luminous pointer 10 for the measuring instrument are covered with a cover 7. When a transparent electrode is used instead of the metal electrode layer 4, it is possible to obtain a transmissive pointer.
