PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely execute the fault detection of a demodulation circuit on the side of transmission and a remodulation circuit on the side of reception by providing a facsimile module on the transmission side with a FAX signal generating circuit for test and providing a facsimile module on the reception side with a FAX signal discriminating circuit for test. SOLUTION: On the transmission side of a facsimile module self-diagnostic device, a FAX signal generating circuit 10 for test generates FAX signals for test at fixed intervals and outputs them to a FAX signal demodulating circuit 11. Concerning the FAX signal demodulating circuit 11, the relevant demodulation circuit is assigned by demodulation control information from a FAX signal assignment control circuit 9, the demodulating processing of a FAX signal or FAX signal for test is performed, and the result is outputted to a FAX signal connecting circuit 12. On the reception side, on the other hand, the FAX signal discriminating circuit for test discriminates whether the FAX signal for test, to which remodulating processing is performed, satisfies a specification or not and outputs the discriminated result to a FAX signal discrimination output terminal for test.
