PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize simplified management in the system operation by automatically duplicating a portable medium by storing temporarily the data to the other storage apparatus and then automatically extracting the portable medium from a library by checking the capacity. SOLUTION: When a request for writing of user designation of data not written in a optical disk for duplication (OD) is generated, the duplication OD is identified and if duplication OD does not exist in the optical disk drive(ODD), the duplication OD is moved to ODD from an ODD accommodation area and the data stored in the data storing area is recorded to the duplication OD. When the data in the data storing area is the data to be stored temporarily, it is already written to the data storage OD or duplication OD and therefore it is deleted. Thereafter, whether vacant capacity exists or not in the duplication OD is determined. When there is no such vacant area, the duplication OD is exhausted from the optical disk library and operation is completed. As explained above, the identical portable medium can be prepared by placing the temporary data to the other memory device.
