PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric actuator and a fuel injector utilizing the same in which vibration in displacement of a piezoelectric element is reduced by generating a pulse to be superimposed immediately after the rise of command pulse. SOLUTION: This piezoelectric actuator generates a size distortion on a piezoelectric element by supplying a drive pulse of the predetermined width across the electrodes of the piezoelectric element and superimposes, to the ON timing (point a) of the drive pulse, a pulse which turns OFF (b to b' point) the drive pulse only for a short time and then turns ON again (point c). The superimposed pulse is supplied in the timing under the 1/4 period of vibration of the piezoelectric element. This piezoelectric actuator can prevent the resonance phenomenon. |
