PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly confirm a normal recording state and to improve reliability of image data by detecting a feature out of the image signals of an object, detecting the level of the feature to compare it with the preset feature of a normal image, deciding whether an object exists at a prescribed position suitable to photograph and also controlling the movement of the object. SOLUTION: The image signals on a roll film 1 are outputted from an image pickup part 2 and then inputted to a feature detection part 4. The part 4 executes image processing that is suitable to detect the feature of the film 1 and detects the feature level. If the part 4 consists of a light quantity detection means 3 which substantially detects the quantity of light, out of the image signals outputted from the part 2, a part where the quantity of light has no change in a certain specific width range can be detected as a blank part. A film movement control part 7 moves and controls the film 1 to a prescribed position if the blank part position detected at the part 4 is not coincident with that of the normal image.
