PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the fluctuation of the anode voltage of a cathode-ray tube due to luminance change and to display high image quality video by expanding the ratio of a horizontal blanking period to a horizontal period based on a converted video signal outputted from a signal processing circuit in a horizontal deflection circuit. SOLUTION: A signal processing circuit 8 which converts the horizontal display period of an input video signal Vin is provided on the preceding stage of a video circuit 5 and a horizontal deflection circuit 7 sets the ratio of a horizontal blanking period to a horizontal period based on a converted video signal vb outputted from the circuit 8. That is, the circuit 7 sets the ratio of the horizontal blanking period to a horizontal period based on the signal vb outputted from the signal processing circuit. Then, it is possible to set the ratio of the horizontal blanking period to the horizontal period larger than conventional. Thus, the fluctuation of the anode voltage of a cathode-ray tube due to luminance change is reduced and high image quality video can be obtained.
