PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device having high degree of freedom and satisfactory operability by providing a casing for housing a sensor part for reading an original, detection part for detecting the positional relation between the casing and the original, and image correcting part for correcting a distorted image based on the positional relation. SOLUTION: A sensor for reading images is housed in a movable scanner 101, and an analog signal from the sensor is A/D converted and electrically sent to a preprocessing board 120 as a digital multi-level signal. On the preprocessing board 120, the odd even-numbered bit dispersion of the sensor or the like is corrected by a sensor dispersion correcting part 125 and the signal is transferred to a personal computer 121 as a main body of processing by a DMA controller 126. In this case, a read original 112 is placed on an original placing stand 111 and positioning marks 113a-113d previously marked on the original placing stand are detected by being indicated by a coordinate detecting switch 102 mounted on the movable scanner 101, and the geometrical distortion amount of images is corrected.
