PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the cooling power of an optical element module, to miniaturize a package 4 and to simplify an assembling process. SOLUTION: In this optical element module 1, an optical element 14, a first lens 18, an optical isolator 19 for suppressing a reflection return beam and an optical fiber 11 for inputting/outputting an optical signal are housed in this order into the package 4. In such a case, the first lens 18 and the optical isolator 19 are placed on a nearly planar fixing member 21 with a step so that mutual optical axes are matched with each other.
