PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable measuring not only at a pointer but also on a line for a short time and at a low cost, by detecting transmitting loss of a light progressing in an optical fiber and a position that the loss is produced from a scattered light produced in the optical fiber spirally wound on surroundings of a cylindrical elastic material. SOLUTION: A spiral optical fiber sensor 9 is formed, by spirally winding an optical fiber 1 on surroundings of a cylindrical elastic material 2 with long lengths consisting of a rubber and a sponge. A winding pitch 3 of the optical fiber 1 is set so that curvature of the optical fiber 1 is larger than the limiting curvature that transmission loss of a light transmitting in the fiber is not produced. Then, the optical fiber sensor 9 is held between a lower plate 5 and an upper plate 6. When a surface pressure occurs on the upper plate 6 and deflection deformation is produced, the elastic material 2 and the optical fiber 1 is distorted due to the pressure, and the curvature of the optical fiber 1 becomes smaller at the position and transmission loss occurs. Therefore, the position and quantity of the transmission loss can be specified by an optical transducer 4.
