PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital information reproducing device which can perform fast forwarding reproduction by intermittent reproduction of compressed digital information. SOLUTION: For example, when digital information compressed by a compression method and stored in a flash memory 4 is fast-forwarding-reproduced, frame data for calculating parameters for calculating parameters of the frame data are taken out together with frame data for reproduction being an object of fast forwarding reproduction by a data read-out/write-in section 5a, and transferred to a RAM 7a. In decoding section 7c, a kind of frame data in the RAM 7a is discriminated based on the above mentioned command, only parameter calculation is performed for frame data for calculating parameters, after frame data for reproduction are decoded using obtained parameters, it is converted to analog data by a D/A converter 8, and outputted from a loudspeaker 9.
