PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distributed software system, with which an agent can distribute its task and state among plural physical machines capable of being different inside a network, and a method for realizing the same system. SOLUTION: As a single agent, the agent is spread over two bases of bases 1 and 2 on two machines of machines 1 and 2. When an object t5 is prepared at the agent of base 1 and machine 1, its identification name and position are recorded in an object space 70 of the agent together with a symbolic (or remote) reference code 55' corresponding to the object 55. The object 55 can be referred to later while using the symbolic reference code 55' and the system processes that object by inquiring it to the object space 70 and solving the symbolic reference code 55' corresponding to the relevant physical position concerning the object 55.
