PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an operator to easily check at about what distance a map is scrolled by providing the device with a distance display means for displaying the distance from the start point of the scroll to a present display position during scroll operation. SOLUTION: When a scroll button is pushed in a manipulation section 4, a CPU 13 assigns the range of the road map data to be displayed next in accordance with the respective scroll speed according to a scroll direction and announces this range to a display control section 14. This display control section 14 controls a display device 2 to display the image data in the display range in accordance with the data stored in a frame memory. The display map is successively scrolled by repeating this procedure. The CPU 13 has a function to calculate the scroll distance in accordance with the scroll speed from right after the emission of a scroll instruction. The CPU 13 announces the calculated distance to the display control section 14. The display control section 14 controls the display device 2 to display this distance in the sub-window, etc., of its screen. |
