PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adjustment means for adjusting a monitor sound volume for a user by considering the constitution of a digital composite machine. SOLUTION: This machine is constituted of a system control unit(SCU) for controlling a copying machine main body and a FAX control unit(FCU) for controlling the transmission and reception of a facsimile, is usable as a facsimile communication and telephone set terminal, is provided with a monitoring speaker capable of monitoring the state at the time of using a communication channel and becomes capable of monitoring by pressing an on-hook key arranged on an operation part. When the user presses the on-hook key and attains a monitoring possible state, a 'sound volume key' capable of adjusting the monitoring sound volume is automatically set on the operation part and the user changes it to an optimum sound volume while confirming the sound volume.
