PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for winding the coil of an armature by which the looseness of a winding can be prevented by always stably imparting prescribed tension to the wire regardless of the variation in winding and, at the same time, the speed-up of winding can be realized inexpensively with a simple structure. SOLUTION: The tension generating device 10 of a winding device for an armature is provided with an air outlet 58 for blowing out air on the outer periphery of a pulley 44 which guides a wire 18. When air is blown out from the port 58, a rotational force is applied to the pulley 44 in the direction opposite to the supply direction of the wire 18 and prescribed tension is imparted to the wire 18. Since the tension is imparted to the wire 18 by the repulsion generated when the air is blown out, the variation of the supply speed of the wire 18 can be followed instantaneously and the tension of the wire 18 can always be maintained in the optimum state without allowing the wire 18 to become loose. |
