PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium transfer apparatus which can control transfer noise without fall of a medium from a mover and raising the manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: In a medium transfer apparatus in which a plurality strip electrodes 12 are arranged on the base material 11 of an insulator, such strip electrodes are divided and connected in three phases to form a stator 1, a rotor 2 is placed on the transfer surface of stator, a transfer medium 3 is placed on the rotor and the medium on the rotor is transferred together with the rotor by utilizing electrostatic force generated between the stator and mover by changing over the polarity of voltage applied to the strip electrodes, when a voltage pattern applied to the stator is changed to negative from positive or to positive from negative, a voltage equal to the ground potential is inserted as a voltage pattern during this period. Thereby, the rotator is placed in close contact with the medium and the medium is transferred without dropping from the rotor. Moreover, transfer noise resulting from vertical movement of rotor can remarkably be reduced.
