PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display and store an image having the same direction as that obtained by forward scanning even when a line sensor is scanned reversely. SOLUTION: When the line scan 101 is scanned reversely in preview mode, a display is made from the bottom of a display screen and when the line sensor 101 is scanned reversely in horizontal scanning, data are stored in an external storage device from the tail line address. Consequently, an image in the same direction with the forward scanning of the line sensor 101 can be displayed and stored.
