PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand scanner which is superior in operability, convenient to an operator, and provided at a low price and the image processor using the hand scanner. SOLUTION: A document setting table 7 is closed and the user traces a document 10 with the hand scanner 2 to read the contents of the document 10 out. The read image is encoded by binarization and then stored in the storage part of the hand scanner 2. Once the connection of the hand scanner 2 with one end of a connection cable 3 connected fixedly to a facsimile main body 1 is detected, the encoded data stored in the storage part are transferred to the facsimile main body 1.
