PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fix a scale plate showing appearance amount of an inner member to an outer cylinder member of a spring system tension balancer to a position to be easily seen, corresponding to a fixing environment. SOLUTION: A tension balancer is so constituted that a coil spring is energized to pull back an inner cylinder protruding from a casing. An appearance amount indicating apparatus 10 fixed to the outside end portion of the inner cylinder 4 consists of a fixing ring 11, a bracket 12 and a scale plate 13. The fixing ring 11 is fitted to a protruding end portion of the inner cylinder 4 and fixed with fixing bolts 11b. On the fixing ring 11, the bracket 12 is fitted, the position of the bracket 12 to the fixing ring 11 is adjusted, and a pin 12a is made to be aligned with a recessed part 11d of the fixing ring 11 and fixed. The recessed part 11d is suitably selected, and the position of the bracket 12 around the shaft to the fixing ring 11 can be changed, so that the scale plate 13 is arranged at a position capable of visual observation.
