PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce surface protrusions and differences of a surface level of a color filter layer by forming a color filter layer with little difference of the surface level and using a black matrix formed thereon as spacers. SOLUTION: Color filter layers 2, 3, selected from color filter layers 2, 3, 4 with plural colors, having colors other than that of the color filter layer 4 which is excluded, are successively formed on a transparent substrate 1 using photoresists. Subsequently the color filter layer 4 is formed by back-exposing a photoresist 4a from the substrate side and color filter layers 4b are formed to bury gaps between the color filter layers to flatten the surface. A black matrix 7 is formed thereon to specify a gap between the color filter substrate and a counter substrate. |
