PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the dimensions and weight of a rectifying circuit section by fixing the output of an uninterruptible power unit to constant power from starting time of the charging of a battery and, after the charging voltage reaches a prescribed value, controlling the charging voltage to a constant voltage. SOLUTION: An uninterruptible power unit is constituted of, for example, a rectifier circuit 12 which inputs AC power and rectifies the power, a battery 13 which is charged by using the output of the rectifier circuit section, and a load 15 connected in parallel with the battery 13. During the conducting period of a rectifier element 21, the output of the power unit is controlled to constant power from the starting time of the charging of the battery 13 by means of a constant-power control system 22. After the charging voltage of the battery 13 reaches a prescribed value thereafter, a constant-voltage control system 23 controls the output of the power unit to a constant value. In the initial state, namely, electric power is supplied to the load 15 connected to a terminal through a DC-DC converter 14 by using the output of the rectifier element 21 controlled by means of the control system 22, and at the same time, the charging of the battery 13 is started. When the battery 13 becomes a normal charged state, the charging is maintained by using the output of the element 21 controlled by means of the control system 23. |
