PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make coat removing work from the ends of coils using flat insulated wires accurately and highly efficiently. SOLUTION: In a method for removing the insulation coating from the end of a coil 1 formed by spirally winding a flat insulated wire in layers, the insulation coating material is removed from the begining and coil end of the coil 1 positioned on the inner peripheral surface of the coil 1 while the material tightly adheres to the main body of the coil 1 by sublimating the material with the energy of a laser beam 5 by locally projecting the beam 5 upon the surfaces of the ends.
