OPTICAL TOUCH PANEL WITH HIGH-RESOLUTION MEANS AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the detection time at the time of touch input of an optical touch panel and to obtain high resolution coordinate values. SOLUTION: The distance between adjacent individual light emitting and receiving elements which are arranged in X and Y directions is divided proviously by a specified number N to set high-resolution coordinates, and when a touch input is detected, N pieces of coordinate values right before movements in the near past are always detected in both the X and Y directions are stored and held and the sums of the N pieces of values in the X and Y directions are outputted sequentially as high-resolution coordinate value in the X and Y directions. Only a specific number of circumferential detecting elements before and after the coordinates of the touch input detected at an arbitrary position on the display surface of the touch panel are concentrically scanned to increase the detection speed.
