PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic still camera which reproduces a high-quality moving image that prevents a boundary between tiles of moving images from being conspicuous, a moving picture photographing method of the electronic still camera and a recording medium on which a program that can be executed by a computer is stored. SOLUTION: In this electronic still camera, an compressing and expanding part 106 respectively divides the image data of each frame that constitutes moving image data that is picked up into plural tiles at the time of picking up moving pictures and performs compression of image data at every tile. In such a case, the boundary of the tile of the image data of each frame is prevented from overlapping on the boundaries of the tiles of the image data of other frames.
