PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling an optical disk skew for individually setting skew control targets, in matching with skew margins of each format and an optical disk device. SOLUTION: In an optical disk device which controls each skew angle of an optical disk to the light spot, when an optical disk 1 with two or more sorts of formats is irradiated with the light spot by an optical system 3 and information is recorded or reproduced, an optical disk device is provided with a gain setting part 9 for setting the gain of the skew control, a skew angle setting part 10 for setting a skew angle, and a correction part 4 for correcting each skew angle of the optical disk 1 to the light spot according to the gain and the skew angle. In such a manner, it is possible to absorb deviations from an optimal skew angle caused by a deviation from the optical axis and aberration.
