A valve arrangement for controlling a fluid flow, especially for a relatively large system, such as a heating or water supply system, has a main valve (2) controlled by differential pressure, and an adjustable pilot valve (7) in a pilot line (4) bridging the main valve (2). From the pilot line a first control pressure line (23) leads to one pressure chamber (19) of the main valve (2) and a second control pressure line (24) leads to the other pressure chamber (20) of the main valve. A throttle (30) is also arranged in one control pressure line (23). At least one differential pressure-controlled auxiliary valve (6) is arranged in the pilot line (4) or in the control pressure line (23, 24). The auxiliary valve is controlled by the fall in pressure of the throttle (30) and limits that fall in pressure to a maximum value. In that manner, the displacement speed of the closure member (21) of the main valve (2) can be limited and a tendency to oscillate can thus be reduced.
