<p>A process for producing a fine powder of a modified polytetrafluoroethylene through tetrafluoroethylene polymerization in an aqueous medium in the presence of a water-soluble fluorochemical dispersant, which comprises introducing a fluoroalkyl vinyl ether into the reaction system by the initiation of the polymerization at the latest to initiate the copolymerization thereof with tetrafluoroethylene and introducing a chain transfer agent into the system after at least 80 % of the tetrafluoroethylene to be polymerized has been consumed. The fine powder thus obtained has moldability, especially excellent extrudability, and excellent heat resistance.</p> |
