The computer system has a base unit (1) in which there are a number of modules such as central processor, memory, disc drives, etc. The top of the housing has a hinge mechanism that supports a cover unit (6). The cover unit, when closed, is stowed between the housing front and rear sides, with guide slot between sides to move cover unit. This has a built in flat screen monitor that can be moved to an upright position. A keyboard may be pulled out of a storage compartment.
