The invention relates to a method for detecting tumor cells in a test sample taken from the body. The inventive method comprises the following steps: (a) withdrawing and preparing a test sample taken from the body; (b) isolating mRNA from the test sample mentioned in (a); (c) converting the mRNA from (b) into cDNA; (d) amplifying the cDNA mentioned in (c) by a PCR-reaction with primers which are specific for PreproGRP cDNA, and (e) detecting the amplified cDNA mentioned in (d).
