Titanium dioxide and/or iron oxide pigments based on a lamellar substrate are used for coloring food and pharmaceutical products. Independent claims are also included for: (1) the production of food and pharmaceutical products colored with titanium dioxide and/or iron oxide pigments by adding the pigments, alone or in combination with other pigments or dyes, to the products during or after their manufacture; and (2) food and pharmaceutical products containing titanium dioxide and/or iron oxide pigments based on a lamellar substrate.
