An engine mounting for a compact earth moving machine has the power unit mounted on a platform (24) which can be pulled out of the rear of the machine and with a fixed cover (23) on the outside of the platform. This provides maximum access to the engine and hydraulic pump. Flexible hoses connect the pump to the machine and the platform has catches to secure either position. The cover clamps against the engine housing and is fitted with seals. The front of the machine is fitted with a bucket arm, min skip etc.
