The part of the rim base(3) facing the tyre(6) is connected to cavities(12) which are joined to the rim base or annular recess(5) in the rim base and/or are located in the wheel shell. The cavities are formed by bulges in the rim base which protrude into the free spaces of the construction encompassed by the tyre. The connecting openings(14) for the tyre are reinforced by transversely extending struts(13). The bulges lies axially inside the width of a tyre and together with the wheel shell may form air channels running from the outer side of the wheel disc to the wheel inner side.
