A car is fitted with a transceiver (4) that is coupled to the car signaling system. A portable transceiver (2) functions as a directional transmitter. The portable transceiver has a display (3), on which can be presented the car direction and distance, either alphanumerically or in a map mode. To this transceiver may be associated an acoustic unit, presenting directional or distance information, by operating as a speech transmission unit.
