The electrical plug socket or switch has a cover (5) which is hinged to it at one side and provided with a key-operated lock (6) at its center for operation of a pivoted locking latch (8) with a locking hook (9) engaging a rebated edge (3) provided by the socket or the switch. The rebated edge has a bead (4) which locates in a groove in the locking hook.
