The invention relates to a method for reducing the quantity of an unsaturate d cyclic imine (I) of formula (I) in a mixture containing hexamethylenediamine and an imine (I), R1 meaning an alkenyl radical with 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 , 11 carbon atoms belonging to the ring system, by electrochemically convertin g the imine (I) into a saturated cyclic amine of formula (II) in the presence of solvated protons.
