The apparatus comprises a vertically arranged cylindrical vessel (1) of non-magnetizable material, with an upper side tangential inlet nozzle (2) and a lower side outlet (3) for the liquid, and a magnetic pole (4) arranged against the vessel wall. The base (7) of the vessel is preferably conical, having a valved outlet (8) for discharge of precipitated solids. The magnetic pole (4) may be either a permanent or electromagnet. Disentrained non-condensibles are discharged via an automatic venting unit (6).
