The present invention relates to a movement converter, or rotator, for converting a reversible rotation into a unidirectional rotation. This converter comprises two planetary transmissions with a plurality of output gears assembled by pairs, wherein the gears in one of said pairs rotate in opposite directions. The spider shaft in one transmission is an input shaft, while the shaft of the other transmission is an output shaft provided with a starter. This rotator can be used in variators or in piston engines. A variator provided with this rotator can have numerous applications such as in electric transports or in the actuators of production mechanisms. This variator has a high reliability and offers a wide range of output rotation frequencies while keeping a sufficiently high performance index of about 0.9. This rotator can also be mounted in a piston engine in order to increase the performance index and the nominal power thereof, and to reduce the lubricating oil consumption while providing a simple lubrication system.
