A communication controller receives bus requests from both a DV cam (50) as an output device on a serial bus (60D) and a DV deck (40) as an input device on the serial bus (60D), and determines whether the requested serial bus (60D) is occupied. When the serial bus (60D) is not occupied, the serial bus (60D) is opened to the DV cam (50) and DV deck (40), and the connection between the DV cams (50) and DV decks (40) is protected, while a serial bus (60A) is opened to an IRD receiver (10) and a mini-disk (20) which request for the serial bus (60A), and the connection between the IRD receiver (10) and mini-disk (20) is protected. According to this configuration, even if the signal formats of the data used on the communication control bus are different, a communication control bus in another specific section with no collision of requests can simultaneously be used by another electronic device, resulting in effective use of the communication control bus.
