The method involves switching a component from a standby mode to an active mode triggered through an input of wake-up information contained in a data message. The wake-up information consists of a certain data format and a code word contained in the data message. The data message is first checked for the valid data format, and the code word is subsequently searched for, whereby the component is switched into the active mode, if both checks have positive results. An Independent claim is provided for an electronic circuit implementing the activation.
