<p>A call forwarding system for an AIN telecommunications environment, in which a destination (30) has changed its telephone number, includes a hub switch (18) and an old address switch (16). When a calling party (10) calls the old telephone number and connects to an old address switch (16), that switch (16) recognizes that the telephone number has been changed, prefixes the old telephone number with a code, and forwards the call, along with the prefixed old telephone number, to the hub switch (18). Using AIN processing, the hub switch (18) then determines the new telephone number and whether someone has elected to pay for forwarding the call.</p> |
