A winding mechanism for manually operating a rotary opening and closing device comprises a main body 5 including a hub 4 fixable to the drive arbor of the device and having a slot 6 substantially normal to the main axis of the hub, a hand wheel 3 attached to the main body concentrically with the hub and provided with a recess 16, and a spring-biased winder arm 10 guided in the slot 6, one end portion 12 of the winder arm being normally held in the recess of the wheel by the bias of the spring 14, wherein the winder arm is partially withdrawable against the force of the spring from the slot to extend radially outwards from the recess of the wheel. The winder arm is preferably a wire bent into a loop-like configuration including at its one end portion an eye 11 adapted to receive a knob 13 rotatable therein. |
