IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO GASKETS AND THEIR MANUFACTURE

A gasket (1) for use in automotive manufacturing as sealing between plastic mouldings (e.g. window frames) and metal bodywork. The gasket has a plastics waterproofing layer (2) (preferably of closed cell foam made from polyethylene, EVA, or PVC) and a sealing and sound-absorbing layer (3) of open cell foam plastics (e.g. polyurethane). To manufacture the gasket the waterproof layer is laid in the mould and then a reacting plastic is introduced which creates foam to fill the mould and bond to the waterproof layer.
